Filmmaker James Gunn wrapped filming his “Superman” in July and then he quickly got to work shooting several episodes of the second season of “Peacemaker” which will shortly wrap.
Despite everything keeping him busy, including co-running DC Studios, he was asked on Threads how “Superman” is going and he confirmed that his assembly cut of the film is not only complete but has been for a while.
That rough first edit comes ahead of proper editing on the film, and post-production work is already well underway ahead of its release next July.
When we’ll get our first look at this new Superman is the big question with recent reports suggesting that a first trailer could be out before year’s end.
“Superman” stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/The Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.
“Superman” will open in cinemas in July next year with the second season of “Peacemaker” to debut after that.
