Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson are teaming up for the true story-inspired music-centric film “Song Sung Blue” at Focus Features.
The story follows a married couple of down-on-their-luck Milwaukee musicians who make a name for themselves after forming a joyous Neil Diamond cover band named ‘Lightning & Thunder’.
Together the pair proved that it’s never too late to find love and success. Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, and Hudson Hilbert Hensley will co-star.
The film will adapt the 2008 documentary of the same name by filmmaker Greg Kohs. Craig Brewer (“Hustle & Flow,” “Dolemite Is My Name”) is on board as a writer and director.
Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and John Fox will produce alongside Brewer. No release date has been announced but the project began filming today ahead of a likely late 2025 release.
Jackman is coming off his turn in the record-breaking superhero film “Deadpool & Wolverine”.
