A couple of key release date announcements have just been made.
First up, the sequel to 2003’s “Freaky Friday” remake has locked down a release date of August 8th 2025. Titled “Freakier Friday,” the film sees Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reprise their roles.
In the film, adult Anna (Lohan) deals with another chaotic body-swapping situation involving her 14-year-old daughter. Chad Michael Murray and Rosalind Chao return from the original, while Manny Jacinto, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Lucille Soong and Stephen Tobolowsky co-star.
Next, the live-action “Lilo & Stitch” movie has set an official theatrical release date of May 23rd 2025. Dean Fleischer Camp (“Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”) is helming the film which will open opposite the next “Mission: Impossible” movie.
The Hawaii-centric story tells of the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo (Maia Kealoha) and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who was genetically engineered to be a force of destruction. Tia Carrere, Sydney Agudong, Courtney B. Vance and Jason Scott Lee co-star.
Finally, Roadside Attractions has finally announced release olans for the acclaimed Pamela Anderson-led indie film “The Last Showgirl” following its successful premiere at Toronto. The film hits Los Angeles on December 13th and will then go wide on January 10th 2025.
The story follows a glamorous Las Vegas showgirl, Shelley, who faces the dark prospects of her show closing after several years. She must reconcile with the decisions she’s made and the community she has built as she plans her next act. Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Kiernan Shipka, Jason Schwartzman and Brenda Song co-star.
