Like many gamers I was thrilled to learn that a sequel to the amazing Alien: Isolation is coming.
I have very fond memories of playing the game at E3 and covering it it at San Diego Comic-Con and PAX West prior to release.
While the passion for a sequel was there it seemed like the creative talents had moved on and with Sega no longer having the rights and Disney now holding the license; new adventures seemed likely even with rumors of a sequel to Fireteam Elite rumored.
While the game is still in early development; more information likely will not come until at least Summer Game Fest, Alien Day, or the Game Awards but I would say that 2026 or 2027 is a more realistic date and we may well see the next-generation of gaming consoles released before the game arrives.
With this in mind; here are some things I would love to see in the game.
V.R.
I know some see this as a gimmick or limited audience feature but the first game did have a V.R. demo at E3 and such and with Alien: Rogue Incursion coming this could be a nice option as long as a traditional mode is also featured as the main play mode.
More Dangers
The Alien is always going to be the main threat but having threats such as the Working Joes such as Mercenaries and other such dangers would add to the danger.
Multiplayer
While I agree the game works best as a solo survival game; a mode or option to co-op or compete with others could be interesting. Imagine a player watching your back while you attend your a task or having to decide if you will let a player get shredded so you can escape knowing you will be down a player later.
Diverse settings
We can all agree that the station was a great setting but imagine if players had to spend extended time with buildings, ships, planetside, and more.
Characters you care about.
Amanda is the key but it would be amazing to have characters that players are truly invested in and their survival beyond Amanda; perhaps even allowing players to play segments as different characters or even the Alien.
What would you like to see in the game?
