Hot on the heels of reports that Sam Raimi’s deal to direct a third “Doctor Strange” film at Marvel Studios is all but done, another project he has lined up prior to that has seemingly cast its star.
Rachel McAdams, who worked with Raimi on the second “Doctor Strange,” is in talks to lead his new horror film “Send Help” reports The Insneider.
The project is being seen as Raimi’s return to the horror genre, and the first horror film he’s directed since 2009’s “Drag Me To Hell”. The report indicates McAdams was always the top choice to lead his next film.
The project, originally at Sony Pictures and now at 20th Century Studios, has been dubbed “Misery meets Cast Away”. The dark comedy-adventure horror follows Linda (McAdams) and her irritating boss Bradley.
The pair are on a business flight which crashes, leaving them stranded on an island – the only two who survived. While Linda has serious survival skills, Bradley… does not.
Mark Swift and Damian Shannon (2009’s “Friday the 13th”) penned the initial script with Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (“A Quiet Place”) doing a re-write.
“Send Help” is gearing up to start shooting in January next year and marks a rare foray into outright horror for McAdams who has mostly done dramas, comedies and thrillers.
