Having returned to the Peter Parker/Spider-Man role in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” actor Andrew Garfield has indicated he’ll happily come back for more MCU fun – on certain conditions.
Talking to Esquire to promote his new romantic-drama “We Live in Time,” Garfield says he had been ‘left dangling’ after “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” was shelved.
When the character made his ‘No Way Home’ debut, he described it as being: “really healing for me” and so he’s keen to get back to it. He says:
“For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into. I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”
Though plenty of rumors have swirled that he’ll be back, including one today from MTTSH saying he’ll be back in the role for at least two more projects, there’s been no official indication either way from Sony Pictures or Marvel if he or Tobey Maguire will once again be joining Tom Holland in the new film.
Garfield also revealed to THR this week he would like to “make a film or a show or something that has the feeling of the stuff that I was brought up on, like ’90s, early 2000s” and adds that a swashbuckling Amblin-style adventure film and an Adrian Lyne-style erotic thriller are the kinds of projects he’s keen to do now.
