Focus Features has released the second trailer for “The Lighthouse” and “The Northman” filmmaker Robert Eggers’ long-gestating re-imagining of F.W. Murnau’s legendary original 1922 feature “Nosferatu”.
The story is dubbed a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman in 19th-century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.
Murnau’s original was shot in black-and-white with a German Expressionism cinematic style, this is being done in color and boasts an artistic style more akin to 19th century Romanticism.
Even so, it’s a film remaining heavily drenched in shadow, muted in color and rich in texture. Once again, like the teaser, there’s several incredible shots in play here
Bill Skarsgard, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicolas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson and Simon McBurney star in the film with Skarsgard taking on the role of the sinister vampire himself Count Orlok.
“Nosferatu” will open in cinemas on Christmas Day.
