After weeks of debate, it looks like the tone and direction of a fourth Spider-Man movie has been settled. While Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton was onboarded, there were arguments behind the scenes.
Sony’s Tom Rothman apparently wanted another massive multiverse adventure, whereas Marvel’s Kevin Feige felt it was time to follow through on the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home with a more grounded, local take for Spidey.
This must have been resolved, as according to CBM the movie has been given the go-ahead and filming will commence in the UK as early as May 2025.
It appears that after Peter Parker was forced to heartbreakingly give up the love of his life, or at least her own memories of him, at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home then this time around he will have a new female co-star, and this one may also be his challenge for the movie. Casting is said to be underway for this new female lead, with speculation it is Black Cat.
There will also be a new main villain, and this role is also being cast.
Tom Holland will return, and he is also primed for the next two Avengers movies.
Spider-Man: No Way Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are writing the script for this new outing.
