The Tokyo Game Show is currently underway and legendary developer Hideo Kojima was part of a 90-minute livestream dedicated to his upcoming game sequel “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach”.
Several trailers were shown showing off the various characters including Elle Fanning’s Tomorrow, “Mad Max” director Dr. George Miller’s Tarman, and returnees like Nicolas Winding Refn’s Heartman and Lea Seydoux’s Fragile.
The thing that has everyone talking is the game’s imaginative photo mode. In a scene involving Fanning, Seydoux and Shioli Kutsuna’s Rainy characters, when switched to the mode the characters seemingly decide to dance and deliver wacky poses.
Singer Daichi Miura, who’s written a lot of music for a variety of animes, performed a song from the game called “Horizon Dreamer” which hits music streaming platforms from Monday.
In the game Sam (Norman Reedus), with companions by his side, sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Players join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected?
The game also stars filmmaker Fatih Akin as a talking stop-motion ventriloquist dummy, and returnee Troy Baker. The PS5 exclusive will arrive sometime in 2025 and will join “Ghost of Yōtei” as the studio’s big first-party single-player titles of next year.
