For now, a November 1st production start is still on track for “Blade” at Marvel Studios – even as there’s officially no director currently attached to the project.
A report earlier this month suggested Marvel’s Kevin Feige would make a decision on the project in the coming weeks, and now World of Reel is reporting that a handful of filmmakers recently went to ‘audition’ for the “Blade” gig.
Their source indicates Jeymes Samuel (“The Harder They Fall,” “The Book of Clarence”) met for the directing job and “impressed the Marvel brass”.
They also indicate the rumour is more solid than reports of Jordan Peele helming the film after the film’s star Mahershala Ali followed Peele on Instagram, with Peele reportedly “never part of any talks with Marvel to helm ‘Blade’.”
Eric Pearson has been the latest writer on the project and it seems his draft has finally satisfied those involved after failed attempts by Michael Green, Beau DeMayo and Nic Pizzolatto among others.
For now, the film is still slated for a November 7th 2025 release.
