Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly working on a live-action film at James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios, one that would serve as a team-up movie involving Batman villains Bane and Deathstroke.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, saying a script is currently in development from “Captain America: Brave New World” writer Matthew Orton. No director is currently attached.
It’s not made clear whether the film would be a part of the DC Universe of Gunn and Safran’s, or an ‘Elseworlds’ work separate from them.
Currently the TV series “The Penguin” on HBO, and the upcoming theatrical release “Joker: Folie a Deux,” are works based on Batman villains that are separate from the new DCU.
Bane and Deathstroke have appeared in live-action before – Tom Hardy played the former as the main villain of Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” while Joe Manganello played the latter in a cameo at the end of the “Justice League” movie.
Both characters have appeared in multiple other media, the Bane character one of the big standouts of Max’s “Harley Quinn” animated series whilst Deathstroke served as the second season villain of The CW’s “Arrow”.
