Martin Scorsese’s projects one about Jesus, and one about Frank Sinatra, have been put on hold. I thought at first it was about both of them together, I wanted to see them both singing I Did It My Way.
According to Variety, both movies were going to be shot back to back this year, but that’s not what’s happened. The Life of Jesus, which is the one about Jesus I’m guessing, was going to be shot in Israel, Italy and Egypt.
The Life of Jesus was supposed to be either filming, or finished filming, already this year, but so far, nothing has happened. Talking about the movie, Scorsese said:
“I’m contemplating it right now. What kind of film I’m not quite sure, but I want to make something unique and different that could be thought-provoking and I hope also entertaining. I’m not quite sure yet how to go about it.“
If you combined a Jesus and Frank movie, that would be ‘something unique’. Frank could sing in Las Vegas, with Jesus doing magic tricks, like making Frank’s enemies disappear. Man, this idea has legs, I’m going to pitch it.
Scorsese has been playing a biopic about Sinatra for many years. They both loved gangsters, so it sounds like a hit. There was no news on whether Tina Sinatra was involved in the project. She is Frank’s daughter.
In the meantime, Scorsese is credited as directing episodes of a Gangs of New York series.
