The upcoming “Paddington in Peru” won’t be the last time we’ll be seeing the marmalade-loving bear it seems.
Executives from StudioCanal appeared at the Brand Licensing Europe 2024 convention in London on Wednesday and made it clear “Paddington” is important for their business.
Françoise Guyonnet, CEO of StudioCanal, kids & family says that while they couldn’t go into detail, they could confirm the studio was “working on a new [Paddington] TV series and a new movie to come in 2027/2028”.
The release of the film, which would be the fourth entry in the series, is being timed to mark the 70th anniversary of the franchise.
Before that though comes the third film, which begins its international rollout in November starting November 8th in the UK and the U.S. in January next year.
In late 2025, the franchise will also be launching “Paddington: The Musical” in the West End with Sonia Freeman producing. That will feature music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher, with Jessica Swale as writer and Luke Sheppard as director.
