Sony has just held its latest State of Play and have announced “Ghost of Yōtei,” a follow-up to “Ghost of Tsushima” from developers Sucker Punch.
Once again you play a wandering warrior in Feudal Japan with freedom to explore at your own pace a beautiful open world. Rather than Jin Sakai, the game boasts a new hero in the form of Atsu.
Atsu’s journey unfolds in 1603, over three centuries after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The story unfolds in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei on Ezo, a region better known today as Hokkaido – the northernmost of Japan’s main islands.
At this point in history, the area was outside the rule of Japan with “sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers” and no organized samurai like there was on Tsushima.
The game is built from the ground up for PlayStation 5 with improved vegetation, new skies, longer viewing distances, new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and new weapons.
“Ghost of Yōtei” will release exclusively on the PS5 in 2025.
