Freddie Prinze Jr. has officially joined the cast of the new “I Know What You Did Last Summer” horror film at Sony Pictures.
The “Scooby-Doo” actor is reprising the role of Ray Bronson from the original 1997 movie and its 1998 follow-up. His former co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt remains “very much in negotiations” to reprise the role of Julie James.
Prinze Jr. joins previously announced cast members Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur-King.
Story details for the new installment are unknown. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is directing from a script by Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson and a draft by Leah McKendrick.
The original followed four young friends (Prinze Jr., Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe) bound by a tragic accident who are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.
Neal Moritz is producing the new film which will release the film in cinemas on July 18th 2025.
