A rumor from online scoopers over at The InSneider indicates that an offer has been made to Jared Leto for the role of Skeletor. They have a great hit rate over there, so put this in the probable column.
The live-action Masters of the Universe adaption is being spun up at Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films. This follows the news that Alison Brie has been cast as his sidekick Evil Lyn.
Others in the cast already include Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man and Camila Mendes as Teela.
Alan Oppenheimer provided the original voice for Skeletor in the 1980s Filmation cartoon. Most recently Mark Hamill provided the voice in the Netflix animated shows.
Potentially the most famous portrayal was Frank Langella, absolutely pissing excellence all over the place as if he had accidentally wandered in off the set of another, far better movie shooting elsewhere on the lot, in the 1980s live-action adaption from Cannon Films.
This version is to be directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee) to once again tell the story of Prince Adam of Eternia who transforms into superhero He-Man to defend the secrets of Castle Grayskull against the evil forces of Skeletor.
The screenplay is by Chris Butler. Robbie Brenner, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producers.
Masters of the Universe is expected to land a worldwide theatrical release on June 5th 2026.
