Ewan McGregor is once again expressing that he’s keen to return as Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi again and hopes for more appearances for his character.
McGregor played the role across the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy from 1999-2005 and reprised the role for the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” mini-series in 2022.
McGregor scored acclaim for his return to the role, even as the reaction to the series itself was somewhat mutedly positive. There’s been no official talk for another round so far.
Speaking with Variety this week, McGregor is keen to get back into those Jedi robes:
“I really do hope we get a chance to do another one. Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there.”
His co-star Hayden Christensen shares that enthusiasm, telling the outlet:
“If it means that I got to do more with Ewan, then that’s a no-brainer, but I really hope that he continues with the character. Just as a fan, it’s so exciting to get to watch him play Obi-Wan – he’s just so good at it.”
As the series takes place halfway between the end of ‘Sith’ and the beginning of ‘A New Hope,’ nine years before the events of the latter, there’s time enough for McGregor’s character for another adventure.
