By Yesterday came a report from The Insneider that some of the work done so far on the “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-verse” film had been scrapped due to creative reasons.
The production team was apparently ‘relieved’ by the scrapping as it will now give them more time to work on the film, and that led to suggestions elsewhere the film is now unlikely to be released before 2027.
Since then, at least two people directly involved with the film have outright dismissed the report. The first came this morning with composer Daniel Pemberton saying on X: “Would you ever believe there could sometimes be stuff on the internet that might not always be particularly accurate?”
That was followed by producer Chris Miller who gave a more straightforward denial on X, saying: “Nothing has been scrapped. The reels are coming along nicely.”
That said, no-one involved or the studio itself is any closer to providing a release window let alone a specific date. The film was originally slated to open March 29th 2024 but since then the filmmakers have said they won’t lock in a date until they feel comfortable that the film will meet that date.
Sony Pictures Television isn’t renewing an overall deal with Miller or his partner Phil Lord following alleged clashes over budgets regarding the upcoming “Spider-Man Noir” series.
