Briarcliff Entertainment has released the official trailer for “The Apprentice,” the 1970s-set biopic starring Marvel alum Sebastian Stan as business tycoon and former U.S. President Donald Trump.
A young Trump, eager to make his name as a hungry second son of a wealthy family in 1970s New York, comes under the spell of cutthroat attorney Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong).
Cohn sees in Trump the perfect protege – someone with raw ambition, a hunger for success, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to win – creating the Donald Trump of today.
The film has been embroiled in controversy since it premiered earlier this year, one scene in which Trump rapes his then wife Ivana (Maria Bakalova) in particular is under fire.
Trump himself has criticized “The Apprentice” and his campaign has threatened legal action. The trailer release comes the same day as Trump and Kamala Harris undergo their first Presidential debate tonight.
The Ali Abbasi-directed “The Apprentice” is set to open in cinemas on October 11th.
