HBO has released a new 60-second promo trailer for “The Penguin,” the spin-off TV series set after the events of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman”.
The eight-episode series takes place within days to weeks after the end of that film with the death of Carmine Falcone (Jon Turturro) and parts of Gotham City still somewhat flooded.
A fight for control of Gotham’s underworld is underway as The Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine’s daughter Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti), and arrested mob boss and Falcone rival Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown) battle it out for supremacy.
Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, Theo Rossi, and David H. Holmes co-star.
Craig Zobel (“Mare of Easttown”) directs the first two episodes and executive produces. Lauren LeFranc is penning the series and serves as showrunner.
Farrell, LeFranc, Dylan Clark, Matt Reeves, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassanand, and Rafi Crohn executive produce.
“The Penguin” will debut on HBO on Thursday, September 19th followed by new episodes weekly starting starting September 29th.
