With the universe of John Wick still in full swing, including Under The High Table coming soon, you would think Chad Stahelski is busy enough. The filmmaker is also working on the Henry Cavill-led Highlander reboot, an adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, a movie adaption of Ghost of Tsushima, and an adaptation of Trevanian’s Shibumi. Now he has taken on Joe Ledger, according to Deadline.

What is Joe Ledger? The description simply reeks of testosterone.

It is a novel series by Jonathan Maberry.

The series is currently ten novels long, and growing. It follows Captain Joseph Edwin ‘Joe’ Ledger – aka. Cowboy (lol). He is a former Army Ranger (what else?) and Baltimore police detective with extreme anger management issues after his ex-girlfriend committed suicide.

He’s hired by a clandestine investigative agency known as the Department of Military Sciences (DMS) which pursues technologically advanced threats related to bio-terrorism. Along with his combat dog Ghost (lol again), and his team of tier-one special operators (but of course!) he is sent on his missions by the mysterious Mr. Church.

Where the books sound interesting is that these designer pathogens and transgenics get used for everything from ethnic cleansing to starting a zombie outbreak, and there are even vampires and aliens involved.

This is what makes this go from cringe to interesting.

Stahleski’s 87Eleven Entertainment will adapt this into a TV series.

Nobody 2 is currently filming in Manitoba, so no word yet on when this project might arrive.
