The 2005 “Fantastic Four” film saw Michael Chiklis in a full body suit to bring Ben Grimm’s The Thing incarnation on screen entirely practically. The 2015 reboot however had Jamie Bell’s character done entirely as a CG effect.

Now the first video is out of Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing filming scenes for Matt Shakman’s upcoming “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” film that is currently shooting in the UK for Marvel Studios.

It’s not clear if this is the actor in the suit or a stand-in in make-up for reference. Previously the actor revealed in a Jimmy Kimmel Live interview that it wasn’t going to be a suit like the Chiklis version and likely would be fully CG.

Either way what we see here isn’t likely the final version that will appear on screen, though it does give a good reference for what the production is aiming for in terms of appearance.

The film stars Pedro Pascal who will play Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby who will play Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman and Joseph Quinn who is Johnny Storm/The Human Torch along with Ralph Ineson as Galactus, Julia Garner as Silver Surfer and both Paul Walter Hauser and Natasha Lyonne.

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will hit cinemas July 25th 2025.
