Production has officially begun in Canada on “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” with new photos being released of cast members like Holly Hunter, Paul Giamatti, former Trek regulars like Robert Picardo and Oded Fehr alongside new faces and some of the show’s producers.

The new series introduces a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism.

Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.

The new series regular faces include Sandro Rosta, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané and Zoë Steiner.

Also in the picture is Gina Yashere who, along with Giamatti, are recurring guest stars in the first season with Giamatti playing the villain.

“Star Trek: Discovery” regulars Tig Notaro and Mary Wiseman are also in the cast but not pictured here. Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serve as showrunners for the new series which will debut next year.
