Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie Tartt on Apple TV+ smash hit series “Ted Lasso,” is not expected to return for the upcoming fourth season.
It was only the other day that news broke that several cast options had been picked up Warner Bros. Television for a fourth season – namely Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Walton, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent and Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins.
They added that negotiations were underway with other cast members not under those options about returning for an early 2025 shoot.
Dunster was one of those other cast members and now Matt Belloni of Puck News has broken the news of Dunster’s Jamie not returning as a series regular for the new run due to a scheduling conflict.
That said, it’s indicated Dunster could take on a smaller role – if he returns at all. Scheduling conflicts and potential budget issues are being seen as the main hurdles that a fourth season must clear to head into production.
Dunster has played Jamie Tartt since the show’s first episode, with the character having undergone a large arc while on the series.
