By Amazon has premiered the first photo of Ciarán Hinds as a Dark Wizard in the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”.
His casting was revealed earlier this year along with Rory Kinnear with the latter eventually revealed to be playing famed Tolkien character Tom Bombadil.
Here though, Hinds’ role name remains secret. A description however has been released, saying he is a “dark and powerful wizard, whose origins and intentions are shrouded in secrecy, and who has a legion of magic-wielding acolytes who obey his every command.”
In addition, they also confirm that he is the character who ordered the three pale travellers to seek out the Stranger at the end of the first season.
Hinds is an Irish acting veteran with multiple awards nominations and familiarity for his work in numerous films and shows including “Rome,” “Munich,” “There Will Be Blood,” “Game of Thrones,” “Silence,” “Frozen,” “Miami Vice,” “In Bruges,” “The Woman in Black,” “John Carter,” “The Sum of All Fears,” “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” among many others.
The second season of “Rings of Power” premieres next week on August 29th with news episodes running weekly through to October 3rd.
