“Bridgerton” breakout Charithra Chandran has joined the cast of the second season of Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” TV series in a key role.
Chandran will play the blue-haired Miss Wednesday/Princess Nefertari Vivi. The character first appears as a bounty hunter for Baroque Works – ultimately joining the Straw Hats crew for most of the Arabasta saga.
That means Chandran will have a series regular role beginning fairly early on in the second season and running through into a good chunk of the third.
She joins other recent additions to the cast including Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha, Mark Harelik as Dr. Hiriluk and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Vivi’s father Nefertari Cobra.
The news comes as rumors have swirled online over the past 24 hours that former “True Blood” and “Magic Mike” star Joe Manganiello has joined the cast going by his recent social media activity.
This has quickly led to speculation he’s been cast as Crocodile, but Netflix has yet to acknowledge any of the rumors. Other key roles, including full-time ongoing characters Nico Robin and Tony Tony Chopper, have yet to be announced.
Season two is currently in production in Cape Town, South Africa.
