Former “Heroes,” “Never Have I Ever” and “The Flash” star Sendhil Ramamurthy has scored the role of King Nefertari Cobra in the upcoming second season of Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” TV series.
In the manga & anime, Nefertari Cobra is the king of the Arabasta Kingdom and father of Princess Vivi. He’s a major character in the Arabasta arc which is expected to mostly unfold in the third season.
Some elements from that arc are likely to be included in the currently filming second season, and it likely means Ramamurthy’s role will be limited here ahead of more significant screen time in the third.
The casting marks the second of a three-day release of casting announcements surrounding the new season; yesterday’s being that of Katey Sagal and Mark Harelik as Dr Kureha and Dr Hiriluk, respectively.
As no other casting was announced this morning, it likely means major roles like Tony Tony Chopper, Nico Robin and Portgas D. Ace won’t be revealed tomorrow – though Crocodile or Princess Vivi news is quite possible.
Filming on the second season will run through December ahead of a release in the back half of 2025.
