Filmmaker Paul Schrader has revealed details of his next two feature film projects, with the first step to begin production this year and the other currently in development.
He tells Screen Daily that the second one will be titled “The Basics of Philosophy”. Schrader wrote a project outline and will write the script within the next three months.
That project he describes as being in the style of his most successful film of recent times – “First Reformed” – and will follow an intellectual university philosophy professor.
His more immediate next film is “Non Compo Mentis” which has begun casting and aims to begin shooting in New York by November following some quick re-writes.
That film follows “two brothers, their demented mother, a younger girl they both fall in love with, and their wives”.
Schrader most recently directed “The Card Counter,” “Master Gardener” and “Oh, Canada”.
