28 Years Later
Producer Andrew Macdonald revealed during an appearance at an Edinburgh International Film Festival event this past Sunday that filming has wrapped on Danny Boyle’s “28 Years Later”.
Not only that, but work has also officially begun on the Nia DaCosta-directed second movie in the planned trilogy of sequels. Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Erin Kellyman and Ralph Fiennes star while Cillian Murphy returns in some way. [Source: JoBlo]
Chad Powers
Quentin Plair (“Apples Never Fall”) and Wynn Everett (“Ordinary Joe”) are set to play series regulars opposite Glen Powell, Perry Mattfeld, Frankie A. Rodriguez and Steve Zahn in half-hour comedy series “Chad Powers” at Hulu. Filming has just gotten underway.
Based on an Eli Manning sketch that aired on the ESPN+ service, Powell plays a hotshot college quarterback whose career is derailed by bad behavior. He disguises himself and joins a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers. [Source: Deadline]
Wise Guy
HBO has confirmed a September 7th premiere date for the two-part documentary “Wise Guy: David Chase and the Sopranos”. The two parts will air consecutively, beginning at 8pm ET/PT and will also be available to stream on Max.
Oscar-winning documentarian Alex Gibne delves deep into the psyche of “The Sopranos” creator and writer David Chase to illuminate his life and career.
Midnight Family
Apple TV+ has premiered the trailer for “Midnight Family” which follows Marigaby Tamayo (Renata Vaca), an ambitious and gifted medical student by day, who spends her nights saving lives throughout Mexico City aboard her family’s privately owned ambulance.
Along with her father Ramón (Joaquín Cosío) and her siblings Marcus (Diego Calva) and Julito (Sergio Bautista), Marigaby serves a population of millions by tackling extreme medical emergencies to make a living. The series debuts on September 25th.
Azrael
IFC and Shudder have released a trailer for E.L. Katz’s new horror film “Azrael” which hits cinemas September 27th and revolves around a mysterious, devout community that hunts down a young woman named Azrael (Samara Weaving) who has escaped their imprisonment.
Recaptured by its ruthless leaders, she is to be sacrificed to pacify an evil which resides deep within the surrounding wilderness – but Azrael will stop at nothing to ensure her own survival. Samara Weaving, Natahan Stewart-Jarrett, Vic Carmen Sonne, Katariina Unt, and Sebastian Bull Sarning star.
Y2K
A24 has released the trailer for disaster comedy movie “Y2K” opening December 6th. SNL alum Kyle Mooney co-writes and directs the film.
The story follows two high school friends who, as they welcome the year 2000, witness the world fall into massive distraction “as a result of a Y2K breakdown”.
Rachel Zegler, Jaeden Martell, Julian Dennison, Alicia Silverstone, Mason Gooding, Tim Heidecker, Lachlan Watson, Fred Hechinger, Miles Robbins, and rapper The Kid Laroi co-star.
