Last Summer saw Michael Keaton return to the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in both “The Flash” and “Batgirl”.
Of course, things went awry. “The Flash” was a high-profile bomb, taking in just $268.5 million worldwide from a $200 million budget along with mixed/poor reviews.
“Batgirl” never made it out of post-production, the $90 million film was infamously shelved by the studio as a tax write-off just after filming wrapped.
In a new interview with GQ, Keaton says he wasn’t upset when Warner Bros. scrapped “Batgirl”: “No, I didn’t care one way or another. Big, fun, nice check” and reportedly gestured money with his hands.
Does he have any sympathy for the project? He does for the film’s directos Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, saying: “I like those boys. They’re nice guys. I pull for them. I want them to succeed, and I think they felt very badly, and that made me feel bad. Me? I’m good.”
Keaton will be seen everywhere shortly, reprising his role of Beetlejuice for the upcoming Tim Burton-directed sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” which hits over 35 years since the original. Check out a clip from that film below:
