Halle Berry appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” this week to promote her new Netflix action film “The Union”, which features Mark Wahlberg, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Mike Colter, Alice Lee, J. K. Simmons, and Jackie Earle Haley co-starring.
During the chat, Fallon spoke about it being the 20th anniversary of Berry’s infamous flop “Catwoman,” a comic book film widely lambasted and a contender for one of the worst films ever to score a wide release.
Last month, Berry spoke about why it failed and said it wasn’t fair that she was the one entirely saddled with the film’s failure. The actress, who won the Razzie for worst performance of the year with her role in the film, now seems more willing to defend it.
She tells Fallon it has taken time, but an audience has found the film. In the clip, she says:
“I loved it. It got panned. The critics said it sucked b****. And b**** aren’t that bad. What I’m happy about is that the children have found it now on the internet, and they love it. So, it’s so vindicating. Because now they’re saying it’s cool and what the heck was everybody’s problem with it.”
She has previously been asked if she would ever reprise the role of Catwoman on the big screen. At the time, Berry said she’d be interested if she could also direct. That doesn’t appear to have changed.
