Teela has been cast for the live-action Masters Of The Universe movie that has been rattling around Hollywood since, well, the last live-action Masters Of The Universe movie. It came close to fruition at Netflix, which eventually passed due to a huge budget.
Eventually, the equally deep pockets of Amazon MGM Studios came to the rescue. Travis Knight (Kubo And The Two Strings, Bumblebee) is to direct from a screenplay by Chris Butler. Robbie Brenner, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch will produce.
It was recently announced that Nicholas Galitzine would star as He-Man. Now former Riverdale and Palm Springs star Camila Mendes has scored the role of Teela.
Masters Of The Universe tells the story of Prince Adam of Eternia who can transform into He-Man, with superhuman strength and abilities which he uses to defend his native planet and keep the secrets of the mysterious Castle Grayskull safe from the evil Skeletor.
It was a famous 1980s animated series, which was created to publicize the Mattel range of toys of the same name. It was previously adapted to the big screen by Cannon Films in the mid-1980s.
Teela is Captain of Eternia’s Royal Guard, the adopted daughter of Duncan, Man At Arms. Although she frequently fights alongside He-Man and oversees Prince Adam, she is not aware of Adam’s secret.
Masters of the Universe is due in theaters worldwide on June 5th 2026.
