Next year sees the return of “Andor” with a second and final season of the “Star Wars” series that will span four years and lead directly into events of the 2016 film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”.
As a result, several characters from “Rogue One” will begin to appear in the second season of “Andor” including Alan Tudyk as the reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO and Ben Mendelsohn as Imperial Director Krennic.
Also back for the second season are Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Denise Gough, and Forest Whitaker as the rogue rebel mercenary Saw Gerrera.
Speaking with EW, writer/showrunner Tony Gilroy says events of the second season will change the way you see “Rogue One” as a film:
“I think people watching ‘Rogue One,’ after watching season 2, are going to see a different film. Everything will be signified differently knowing what had to happen for K-2 to be there. It’s going to make you witness the journey of Rogue One in a different way, I think.
And not just with K-2, but with many other characters. I think it’ll be really cool. You’re going to see why K-2 is so important in ‘Rogue One’, and how does he get to be such an important character for the Rebellion.”
“Andor” is not expected to air on the Disney+ until early or mid-2025.
