PlayStation has unveiled a ‘comparison trailer’ for its upcoming remake of “Until Dawn” which is hitting both PS5 and PC on October 4th.
The trailer compares scenes from the 2015 PS4 title with shots from the PS5 version of the game – the results being quite different and markedly improved visual fidelity wise.
The game has been completely overhauled and rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, along with new motion capture, revised cinematography and revised production design.
This results is certain shots look quite different – from a better lit cabin to characters ending up much grimier and sweatier, and all sorts of new angles and framing for almost every scene.
The prologue has also been completely reworked, and there’s a new camera control mechanic, new score, and new audio design.
The story is set at an isolated mountain lodge. Eight friends try to stay alive with a mysterious killer on the loose as a mystery surrounding a long-ago mining cave-in features in the story.
Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick penned the game, which was built on player choice and branching storylines, so no two game playthroughs will be the same. Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, Peter Stormare and Brett Dalton lent their voices and likenesses.
The remake comes as the game is getting a film adaptation which is currently in production.
