FX has released the full trailer for the first installment of “American Sports Story”, the first season of Ryan Murphy‘s newest anthology series.
Based on the podcast by Wondery and the Boston Globe titled “Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc.,” the first installment charts the rise and fall of late NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez.
It explores the connections of the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide, and their legacy in sports and American culture.
The cast is led by Josh Andrés Rivera as Aaron Hernandez, Patrick Schwarzenegger as Tim Tebow, Lindsay Mendez as Tanya Singleton, Tony Yazbeck as Urban Meyer, Jake Cannavale as Chris, Tammy Blanchard as Terri Hernandez, and Norbert Leo Butz as Bill Belichick.
The series is written and executive produced by Stu Zicherman (“The Americans”) and each season will focus on a prominent sports figure and re-examine their life and career from multiple perspectives.
“American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” will debut on Tuesday, September 17th on FX with the first two episodes.
