A new photo of Daniel Craig in Luca Guadagnino’s “Queer” has been revealed ahead of the film’s Venice Film Festival premiere in September.
Based on William S. Burroughs’ novel, Craig plays a habitual heroin user luxuriating in freedom among a disconnected group of gay American expatriates in Mexico City. Drew Starkey, Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville, Omar Appolo and Henrique Zaga co-star. [Source: VFF]
Roofman
Filming on “Blue Valentine” and “The Place Beyond the Pines” director Derek Cianfrance’s next film, “Roofman,” reportedly begins in October. Channing Tatum was previously linked to star in the film.
The true story-inspired tale follows a man who robbed McDonald’s in the late 1990s, all while living out of a Toys ‘r Us in Charlotte. This marks Cianfrance’s first film since “The Light Between the Oceans” in 2016. [Source: World of Reel]
The Rainmaker
Former “Mad Men” alum John Slattery has joined the cast of USA Network’s drama series “The Rainmaker” based on the bestselling John Grisham novel.
Slattery will portray Leo F. Drummond, a senior partner at Tinley Britt and the antagonist of the story. Jon Voight played the character in the 1997 Francis Ford Coppola film adaptation. [Source: Variety]
I Can’t Help It
The official one-sheet has been released for filmmaker Park Chan-wook’s new feature “I Can’t Help It,” a remake of Costa-Gavras’ “The Ax”. Filming is reportedly about to get underway in Seoul.
Cha Seung Won, Park Hee Soon, Yoon Ga Yi, Lee Byung Hun and Son Ye Jin star in the film about an out of work middle manager who concocts a grimly audacious plan to identify and kill his fellow job applicants so that he is the only qualified person left.
