The Marvel Studios section of the D23 Showcase tonight was light on stuff that has been released to the public, preferring to keep its contents for those inside the room.
The studio may want to rethink that as a 2.5 minute teaser trailer for “Daredevil: Born Again,” which hasn’t been released officially, has gone online all over social media and shows off the new season.
The new run sees Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) try to put their rivalry and darker alter-egos aside to help the people of New York stop a bigger threat, only for their pasts to “catch up to them”.
That bigger threat seems to be the serial killer Muse who is glimpsed in the trailer, as is White Tiger. Kamala Khan’s father also shows up, while the clip confirms Matt has at least five different Daredevil suits in this.
The clip also sees the return of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin ‘Dex’ Poindexter/Bullseye and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk.
They’re joined by Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Jeremy Earl, and Arty Froushan in the new run.
The project was famously halted partway through production due to the strikes and then majorly retooled to be more connected to the original Netflix series.
The result is an original 18-episode series order was changed into two seasons of nine episodes each with the second season about to begin filming. The first season is due on the service in March 2025.
