The Warner-owned Cartoon Network’s official website is gone, replaced with a splash page redirecting users to the Max streaming platform in the U.S. and to the channel’s YouTube homepage overseas.
This follows from Warner Bros. Discovery announcing that the Boomerang streaming service and website would be shuttered on September 30th with users moved over to the ad-free Max plan at no additional cost. The post on the page reads:
“Looking for episodes of your favorite Cartoon Network shows? Check out what’s available to stream on Max (subscription required). Sign up for Max, where you can also create a Kids Profile with ratings restrictions and additional privacy protections to keep it fun and kid-friendly! Cable subscribers, continue to enjoy your favorite CN programming on your TV and connected apps as well!”
Neither Warner Bros. Discovery nor Cartoon Network have officially addressed the redirection, but social media users have been posting screenshots and reminiscing about playing games and watching shows directly on the site for much of today.
Cartoon Network recently clarified it is still operational and remains committed to producing new content amid rumors surrounding its fate and the challenges facing the animation industry.
This also follows a similar situation over at Comedy Central which saw its official site and archives of thousands of episodes shut down and replaced with a splash page for the Paramount+ service.
