Netflix has released the first trailer for “Green Room” and “Blue Ruin” director Jeremy Saulnier’s “Rebel Ridge” which will hit the service on September 6th.
In the film, a former Marine (Aaron Pierre) grapples his way through a web of small-town corruption when an attempt to post bail for his cousin escalates into a violent standoff with the local police chief. He didn’t start this fight, but he will finish it.
AnnaSophia Robb, James Badge Dale, James Cromwell, Don Johnson, Emory Cohen and David Denman co-star.
The film has spent a long time coming to the screen – originally slated to begin shooting in April 2020, the pandemic pushed back filming to May 2021 with John Boyega in the lead.
Then, one month into the shoot, Boyega abruptly exited the production due to family reasons. Filming didn’t get back underway until April 2022 with Pierre taking over the role. Production ran through end of of July 2022.
