“The Crow,” “Dark City” and “I, Robot” director Alex Proyas is set to return helm his seventh feature film – the sci-fi satire “R.U.R.”.
Mallory Jansen (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Lindsay Farris (“Ash vs Evil Dead”), and Emmy and Tony Award winner Anthony LaPaglia will star.
Proyas penned the screenplay based on Czech playwright Karel Capek’s famous 1920 science fiction play R.U.R. (Rossum’s Universal Robots) with filming to begin in Sydney on October 21st.
The story follows Helena (Jansen) who visits the island factory of Rossum’s Universal Robots to emancipate the robots from capitalist exploitation, with catastrophic results.
Proyas, who also directed “Garage Days” and “Knowing,” last directed the infamous 2016 flop “Gods of Egypt”.
He along with Morris Ruskin, Adam Krentzman, Steven Matusko and Brett Thornquest will produce the new film.
