Emmy winner JB Smoove (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) is set to produce and potentially star in a comedic animated series based on the 2022 video game “High On Life”.
The wacky first-person shooter/Metroidvania mashup takes place in a science fiction world which features talking guns. In it, humanity’s fate in jeopardy after an alien cartel discovers that humans are the most potent drug in the cosmos.
Smoove is one of the game’s key voice cast alongside Jack Black, Susan Sarandon, Thomas Middleditch, Echo Kellum, Jennifer Hale, Tim Robinson, Wayne Pygram and more.
The game, created by former “Rick and Morty” co-creator Justin Roiland, received mixed reviews at launch but has more than eight million players worldwide.
Alternate Side Productions, Squanch Games and Striker Entertainment are developing the project with Russell Binder and Mandy Bardisbanian executive producing.
Alec Robbins, who served as narrative director of the game, is also working on the series.
