“God of War” reboot developer Santa Monica Studio is working on a new piece of intellectual property.
The reveal came via a LinkedIn profile (via ResetEra) of Glauco Longhi who has rejoined the studio earlier this year where he’s overseeing character development on the unannounced project.
Longhi was a senior character artist on 2016’s “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” at Naughty Dog and the same on the “God of War” reboot from 2018.
He was then lead character artist on 2022’s “God of War Ragnarök” and a character and art director on Striking Distance Studios’ “The Callisto Protocol”.
In the profile he states: “Santa Monica Studios presented the opportunity of coming back as Character Supervisor, looking after the entire Character Development pipeline, on their new unannounced project, so here I am, thrilled to be back, working again with the crew and pushing Characters in videogames together.”
Intriguingly the post originally read “their new IP” before being changed to “their new unannounced project”. If true, it would mark a change as Santa Monica Studio has been devoted in-house to the “God of War” since 2005.
They have helped externally develop titles, most notabley Thatgamecompany’s “Journey,” Ready at Dawn’s “The Order: 1886,” Giant Sparrow’s “The Unfinished Swan” and The Chinese Room’s “Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture”.
Santa Monica Studio still hasn’t announced their next project after “God of War Ragnarök”.
