Marvel’s Phase Six kicks off with The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July next year, and will ramp up with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars in May 2026 and May 2027. Blade will also be in the mix somewhere if it solves its constant production delays. All mention of Kang has been erased, which renders Loki kind of irrelevant now.
Two new untitled Marvel films were added to the 2027 calendar. This means there are four untitled slots running from February 2026, through November 2026, then July 2027, and November 2027.
So a round of speculation kicked off as to what these movies could be. Everyone knows X-Men is coming eventually, and writers were being shortlisted alongside directors. Nothing else was known, until late yesterday.
At that point a listing went live in Production Weekly detailing a late 2025 start of shooting, which would line it up for one of those prime 2027 spots. X-Men had previously been listed before, but that listing was pulled.
The whole Phase 6 remains something of a moveable feast right now with Shang-Chi 2, and Doctor Strange 3 in the mix with X-Men and whatever comes of the rest of the characters after a somewhat lackluster Phase 5 (so far).
The D23 convention kicks off in Los Angeles on Friday so expect more news then. While D23 events are held regularly, the bigger D23 expo-style event is only held every two years, and last time – in 2022 – it was held at the same conference center in Anaheim. There, a huge array of content and product was unveiled or previewed.
It is called D23 after the year 1923, when Disney was founded. D23 is the official Disney fan club and there are two tiers – Free and Gold – as this is Disney you can pretty much guess what this entails.
