James Gunn has revealed that filming on his “Superman” movie has wrapped filming today, the wrap coming just as rival Marvel Studios kicks off filming “Fantastic Four” with both films opening in the same month next year.
In a posting on Instagram, Gunn has posted a photo of himself and several crew members along with actors David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult who play Superman and Lex Luthor respectively.
He captions the photo saying it’s from their first week of shooting in Svalbard Norway in tribute to the overall shoot now ending. He then goes on to say:
“And that’s a wrap. God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much.
And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor.
The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set – and for that I am forever grateful.”
Gunn is expected to segue from this into directing episodes of the currently in-production second season of “Peacemaker” whilst also editing and completing post-production on “Superman” between now and the film’s release in July 2025.
