“John Wick” and “Nobody” writer Derek Kolstad will adapt the shoot ’em up comic “Ordained” for the screen, though it’s not clear if it’s a film or TV series project.
The story centres on a priest who performs last rites at a hospital. One day a dying patient confesses to being the head of the Irish Mafia and spills out his darkest secrets.
When said patient makes a miraculous recovery, he sends his men to kill the priest who knows where the bodies are buried. The thing is, this priest is also an ex-Navy SEAL who found his faith in the midst of battle.
When you cross this priest, better be prepared to meet your maker. Also in the mix is a cop determined to take down the mafia head, even as others around him are corrupt.
Dinesh Shamdasani and Benjamin Simpson are both producing. Robert Venditti wrote while Raúl Allén and Antonio del Hoya illustrated the original comic for publisher Bad Ideas.
Kolstad reportedly indicates that he pursued doing the adaptation rather than the publisher seeking him.
