Following the presentation in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, HBO has released a full trailer for “The Penguin” its upcoming spin-off TV series from Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” film.

In addition a September 19th premiere date has been announced for the series, and Farrell confirmed he will be returning as the character for Reeves’ “The Batman Part II” film.

The eight-episode series takes place within days to weeks after the end of that film with the death of Carmine Falcone (Jon Turturro) and parts of Gotham City still somewhat flooded.

A fight for control of Gotham’s underworld is underway as The Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine’s daughter Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti), and arrested mob boss and Falcone rival Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown) battle it out for supremacy.

Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, Theo Rossi, and David H. Holmes co-star.

Craig Zobel (“Mare of Easttown”) directs the first two episodes and executive produces. Lauren LeFranc is penning the series and serves as showrunner.

Farrell, LeFranc, Dylan Clark, Matt Reeves, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassanand, and Rafi Crohn executive produce.
