AMC has teased the upcoming third season of “Interview With the Vampire” with a lengthy clip which puts the entire focus on Sam Reid’s Lestat as he turns to rock music in the new run.
Eric Bogosian’s Daniel can also be heard in the clip which seems to be a specially made piece as production on the third run, to be based on the second novel “The Vampire Lestat,” doesn’t begin until the Fall.
As the new season shifts the focus from Louis (Jacob Anderson) to Lestat, showrunner Rolin Jones says the new season will feel like “it was hijacked by Lestat” and aesthetically it will be “what a Lestat version of the show feels like and looks like”.
The new season sees Lestat resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy bestseller “Interview With The Vampire” and so he sets his story straight in a way only he could – by starting a band and going on tour.
The new season will see the introduction of several key vampires of the lore including Lestat’s maker Magnus, Armand’s maker Marius de Romanus, Lestat’s mother Gabrielle, and the twin stone carvings of Those Who Must Be Kept (aka. Akasha and Enkil).
They join returnees Louis, Daniel, Armand (Assad Zaman), Sam (Christopher Geary), Raglan (Justin Kirk), Dr. Fareed (Gopal Divan) and others. The showrunners this weekend indicated the Devil’s Minion storyline from the books (about the unusual Armand/Daniel relationship) will get teased in the new run.
