Paramount+ has unveiled a first-look clip and photos from the third season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” along with announcing that Cillian O’Sullivan (“In from the Cold”) will be a recurring guest star as Dr. Roger Korby.
Korby was first introduced in “Star Trek: The Original Series” played by Michael Strong. He’s a renowned archaeologist and scientist known for his groundbreaking work in the field of medical archaeology.
Chief engineer Montgomery ‘Scotty’ Scott, introduced in the second season finale, will be a regular presence across the third season.
Executive producer Akiva Goldsman also teased that one episode this year will be “a Hollywood murder mystery rooted in Star Trek reality.”.
Goldsman also touched upon the possiblity of a “Star Trek” stage musical likely to be centered around the “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” crew.
The reveal came when Goldsman was asked if there will be more musical episodes following last year’s “Subspace Rhapsody”. He said: “We’re in the very early stages of figuring out whether we can bring a version of that to the stage.”
Rebecca Romijn, who plays Una Chin-Riley on the show, added: “Akiva, I can’t believe you just said that!”.
No word as yet on an airdate for the third season.
