The very first effort in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Studios initiative, the animated series “Creature Commandos,” has released its first trailer.
Following the events of “Peacemaker,” Amanda Waller is no longer able to put human lives in jeopardy for her clandestine operations as she did with the Suicide Squad and Team Peacemaker.
As a result, she assembles a black ops team out of monstrous prisoners called the Creature Commandos.
The cast includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, Sean Gunn as both G.I. Robot and Weasel, and Maria Bakalova as the new character Princess Ilana Rostovic.
Also onboard are Steve Agee and Viola Davis, reprising their “Peacemaker” roles of John Economos and Amanda Waller, respectively. Gunn wrote all the episodes and directed the primary actors initial recordings to get the voices right.
The project kicks off DC Universe’s first phase called ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters’ which is expected to span ten titles with “Superman” being the first live-action effort when it debuts next year. “Creature Commandos” premieres in December.
