The second season of Apple’s acclaimed sci-fi series “Silo” still hasn’t set a premiere date as yet, but showrunner Graham Yost recently teased what’s to come following the major events at the end of the first season.
The series, based on the “Wool” trilogy of novels by Hugh Howey, is set in a dystopian future and follows thousands of people living as a community in a massive silo with multiple regulations to protect them from the dangers outside.
SPOILERS AHEAD
The first season ended with Rebecca Ferguson’s engineer venturing outside in an effort to find the truth, only to discover the existence of other silos close by.
The season premiere will deal with her battle for survival on the surface, Yost telling EW:
“Her face is on the poster, so we know that Juliette is not dead. Juliette has a very difficult time getting into this other silo, and she’s looking for safety ’cause her suit is running out of air.
The wondrous tape that Walker [Harriet Walter] arranged for her to have her suit wrapped in, that’s going to fail. A lot of the episode is about Juliette just trying to survive and the engineering stuff she has to do to try to stay alive.”
That won’t be all though as he confirms the premiere will actually start some time ago in the other silo where “a rebellion went very wrong.” Ferguson’s character discovers what happened and “tries to stay alive in an empty silo” to figure out what happened. However it may not be entirely empty.
Meanwhile back in the regular silo, a rebellion is brewing:
“There’s the beginnings of a call for rebellion, because Juliette went over the hill, so maybe it’s safe outside. And yet what we saw over in the other silo is what can happen if the rebellion goes wrong and all the people died, so that’s the basic tension of the season.
Juliette knows [what] could happen to her silo, and is there any way she could get back to them to help them to stop that from happening? Stuff’s starting to get really, really scary.”
The new season is expected to arrive later this year.
